A brief history of the Tribe

We get asked a lot, "Where did all this Tribe business start anyway?".  The original 6 or 7 of us basically grew up together.  We all went to high school together, and remained friends after we all graduated.

I started attending sci-fi/fantasy conventions in 1987 and by 1989 or '90, I had convinced most of the guys to go as well.  During this time (early 90's), we started attending Magnum Opus Con (MOC) on a yearly basis.  It was at MOC sometime in '92 or '93 that Krys Bailey had decided to dress up as an Indian shaman for a live role-play game (Labyrinth) that we liked to participate in.  He basically wore war-paint, a loin cloth, and little else.  Needless to say, this costume was a big hit with the female attendees of MOC.  How this all evolved into the travelling War Party that we are famous for has been lost to the ravages of unfaithful memory.  So, I'll get on with the rest of the story.  :-)

The War party that we would throw every year at MOC consisted of all of us getting decked out our Indian costumes (again, little more than loincloths and body paints), mixing up our world-famous concoction known as Fire Water, and running amok in the hotel, leaving drunken revelers in our wake.  It is during these War Parties that we would induct new members. There wasn't a whole lot to the induction ceremony: kneel down, drink some fire water, and get your forehead painted up with the mark of the Bendovaho.  We have over the years inducted probably hundreds of people.  They all have tribal names too, although, due to the fact that there were large quantities of alcohol involved, any one of us would be hard pressed to remember any of them.  Most of the time, we have trouble remembering our own names.  :-)

That's it really - if you've ever been inducted by us, email me and I'll be happy to put you on the members page, which can be found here.
